Scope and content This collection contains items that document Jerome Worsley's life as a student at East Carolina Teachers College (now ECU) in the mid-1940s and as a member of the U.S. Army (1951-1953) during time at Camp Rucker in Alabama and Special Services for the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) under command of General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Biographical noteJerome R. Worsley was born near Bethel, N.C., on October 20, 1928. He earned an BS in Business and Social Studies and an MA in Educational Administration from East Carolina Teachers College (now East Carolina University), and a Doctorate in Education including Vocational-Technical and Community College Administration from North Carolina State University. He taught high school before serving in the United States Army. Following his discharge, he continued teaching and worked for twenty-six years at Durham Technical Community college in Durham, N.C, as a professor, Dean of Adult and General Education, and as Dean of the Faculty for Technical and Vocational Education Degrees.
